Bastiaan Woudt – Karawan

In 2016 Bastiaan Woudt was awarded the Van Vlissingen Art Foundation prize. The prize is given each year to young artists to offer the opportunity to bring their work to the attention of a broader audience. The award entails an inspirational trip abroad with the purpose to create a body of work published by the Foundation as an art travel monograph and a solo exhibition. For his series, Bastiaan Woudt chose to go to Morocco where he photographed dazzling metropolitan cityscapes, staggering mountains of the High Atlas, the dunes of the Sahara and made portraits of the citizens of Morocco. The end result is a series where the photographer has successfully managed to assemble different subjects - portrait,  landscape, still lifes together in one cohesive story that shows his vision of the country.
