Douglas Mandry
The work of visual artist Douglas Mandry includes photography, video, sculpture and installation. He works multidisciplinary and often closely collaborates with earth scientists. Mandry's reflections on landscape and its material elements ask what the sublime - that fascinating mixture of horror and beauty - could mean today.
He gained a Bachelors in both Visual Communication and Photography from the University of Art and Design ECAL in Lausanne. Since graduating Mandry has been nominated for numerous awards including the Paul Huf Award and Swiss Federal Design Award. In 2020, Mandry won the «Foam Talent 2020». The series of works «Monuments» and «Unseen Sights» were shown in a museum context in 2020 and 2021 in various group exhibitions, including the Kunstmuseum Wien, the Foam Museum Amsterdam and the National Museum Luxembourg. Douglas Mandry's works have also been presented at various international fairs such as Paris Photo, Photo London, Photo Basel and Art Rotterdam.
