Bildhalle is delighted to be taking part in the first edition of Maze Photography St. Moritz. The organizers of the successful MAZE Art Gstaad are bringing a focus on photography to St. Moritz for the very first time, complementing it with a sculpture exhibition. The frozen Lake St. Moritz and the massive walls of the Bernina Group form the impressive backdrop for this Salon d'Art dedicated to photography.
As one of the participating galleries, Bildhalle will be exhibiting new works by Joost Vandebrug, Jeffrey Conley, Simone Kappeler and Douglas Mandry - many of which were created in the Engadine region. The great Swiss photographer René Groebli will enrich the presentation with exclusive vintage and platinum prints.
The multidisciplinary artist Joost Vanderbrug is exhibiting in St. Moritz for the first time. His imaginary landscapes consist of up to 200 hand-made paper cards printed by means of photo emulsion transfer. A work that pushes the boundaries of traditional photography and explores the nature of human memory.
Douglas Mandry presents new works from his Monuments series: lithographs of historical glacier landscapes on used glacier cloth (geotextile). In addition, we are also displaying glass sculptures of glacier mills beneath the surface of the Rhone Glacier.
Simone Kappeler is showing new work from her Engadine Polaroid series. By opting for this technique, which is prone to errors in its chemical development, she deliberately leaves room for imperfections such as color casts, light bubbles or color stripes, which shape and influence the work as aesthetic coincidences.
We are looking forward to welcoming you in St. Moritz.
